The question we hear most:
"Will you review my album?"
We will consider your album for review, no matter the genre of Christian music (pop, light rock, CCM, contemporary etc.), but we generally do not review heavy metal, hip hop or rap. We prefer well-produced CDs that have radio-friendly tracks. However, don't let that stop you from submitting. We've heard many debut albums from "name bands" that were not their best, but showed potential.
Due to the time and attention to detail that is put into these reviews we have a $50 charge for Independent artists or $25 for an EP. These charges are minimal and actually a priceless tool for promotion as we generally will have something uplifting said in our reviews. No one wants to pay to get slammed, and it's why we have set up a review before the review process. If your project appears homemade or the production is significantly lacking, we will tell you no thanks before any monitary exchange. Additionally, we listen for nearly a month before writing the review, so we will have your review online in less then 45 days generally.
We have been at this nearly ten years! Check out our archive section for past reviews. We really try to dig deep into the production of your record and our perception of the meaning in your lyrics. Our reviews paint the picture from first impression to a final conclusion. Sockspider only asks that you link your review to our website so we can continue to assist Christians who want to spread His word with their music! Any Christian artist interested in a review can contact us via email (Paul@Sockspider.com). We will want to check out your website (if you have one), then mail you our address for a CD if we agree to do your review.
